About the school
The Giambiagi Winter School is organized by the Physics Department of Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each year the School is devoted to a different topic and its main purpose is to offer graduate students and young researchers an up-to-date perspective given by world-recognized experts, in a relaxed working atmosphere promoting interaction and potential future collaborations. The School consists of a series of lectures on recent results, with posters and discussion sessions.
The present edition of the School is devoted to the research work of physicists as part of multidisciplinary teams in healthcare facilities. Physics have played a very important role on the development of modern medicine. Nowadays, the contribution of physicists is going through the hospitals doors, renewed and expanded. It is a challenge for physicists and physicians to work together in synergistic teams in order to understand health and disease and develop new technologies for therapeutic and diagnosis. With that spirit, the XX edition of the Giambiagi Winter School came up. We aim to bring into discussion the following topics:
- Quantitative image analysis
- Bioinformatics
- Personalized medicine
- Biophysicial modelling of physiological processes
- Biomarkers and big data for treatment of clinical data
The School aims at creating an interdisciplinary atmosphere to encourage cross-disciplinary studies and the free exchange of ideas between students and researchers. Students, postdocs, and researchers from a broad variety of fields are welcomed.
This year the School will be held from July 30th to August 3rd at the main lecture hall of Pabellón 1, Ciudad Universitaria, Buenos Aires.
